Local Government

There will be major changes to the structure of local government in Derbyshire in 2028. Derbyshire County Council (DCC) and High Peak Borough Council (HPBC) will be replaced by one or two unitary authorities depending on the decision to be made later this year (2026). Until then, the local services covered by DCC and HPBC can be found here & on the FAQs page here

High Peak Borough Council is responsible for a range of local services including:-
bins & recycling, street cleaning (litter, dog fouling, gritting, fly tipping, abandoned vehicles), environmental health (noise nuisance & food hygiene issues, pest control & treatment, drainage & flooding problems, dog control).
Derbyshire County Council is responsible for or a range of local services including:-
education, transport, roads & highways, drainage, care homes, libraries, waste management and recycling.
