Plans are in progress to replace the existing Derbyshire councils with unitary authorities. The information on this page covers the current situation in January 2026 and will be updated when a final decision is made.
High Peak Borough Council is responsible for a range of local services including
- bins & recycling
- street cleaning (litter, dog fouling, gritting, fly tipping, abandoned vehicles)
- environmental health (noise nuisance & food hygiene issues, pest control & treatment, drainage & flooding problems, dog control).
Derbyshire County Council is responsible for or a range of local services including:-
education, transport, roads & highways, drainage, care homes, libraries, waste management and recycling.
