In 2008 High Peak Volunteering, a partnership of Buxton, Glossop & New Mills Volunteer
Centres, was awarded Big Lottery Funding for a 5 year project across the High Peak.
The project was established to enhance the quality of life for the people of the
High Peak and Hope Valley by promoting the value of volunteering and ensuring that
volunteering opportunities were available for all. The focus was to fill in the gaps
in provision between the 3 volunteer centres.
Through outreach work, the project has engaged with organisations and volunteers
in these areas in order to help reduce barriers to volunteering and raise awareness
of volunteering opportunities available. Beginning in the Hope Valley, the project
offered guidance, support, information and free training to organisations and groups
which used volunteers.
Staff at Buxton & District Volunteer Centre will be happy to assist you in finding
a voluntary placement or help you to recruit volunteers. You can get in touch with

Castleton Parish Council would like to thank High Peak Volunteering for their very
generous donation of £300 to cover the cost of this website which enables the Council
to provide up-to-date information to residents on the work of the Council.
